Comming back home Roosevelt High School Class 1972

Leaving Seattle in 1977 was only going to be temporary, with plans to return in 5 years. 32 years later, Carl Brecht is back. Carl, after graduating from the University of Washington Business School in 1975, began working for West Coast Realty. Two years later, he continued his real estate career in Chicago Illinois, Granger Indiana, and Saint Joseph Michigan. Now back, with 3 broker licenses,Carl has chosen to place his Managing Brokers License at Keller Williams Greater Seattle, with continued success in these market conditions Carl’s expertise is finding an area that is reasonably priced, and promoting the property to investors. He has owned a few wholesale and retail businesses. His favorite one was a gourmet coffee shop, and that is a operation he enjoys selling. The enjoyment is finding that right person to carry on the business.Carl’s education did not stop after business school. Just a few years ago Carl attended Thomas Cooley law School to concentrate in property and contract law. His back ground has enabled him to offer his clients an expertise above the norm. Even though he does have a knack for selling businesses and commercial property, his enthusiasm for selling residential property is also evident. “Older historical homes are irreplaceable and have a story to tell “When asked about his fondest memories of Seattle, Carl was quick to mention his days with Boy Scout Troop 15. Taking the Adventurous, a hundred plus foot sailing ship to summer camp in the San Juan Islands. Another adventure was on an Eagle Scout climbing trip to Mount Rainer. On that climb he ran into both Whitaker brothers at Camp Muir. A highlight of his high school days was being a member of the Roosevelt Chess Team. His love for the game continued by teaching hundreds of elementary school students. His team of five third and fourth graders routinely defeated the top high school players in the Indiana area. Carl also is an avid rower and sculler. He was a member of the University of Chicago Rowing Team and attended the annual Head of the Charles rowing regatta in Boston. His only regret was that he did not take advantage of the rowing program at the University of Washington in his earlier years.At age 55 Carl sees himself working another 25 years in the profession he loves. His experience over the years has seen markets like today. “ There is no place in the world like the Pacific Northwest.” He is back to stay. Roosevelt High School class of 1971 Brian Delmer Smith

Brian Delmer SMITH Brian left us on March 23, 2011 at the age of 58 after a short illness. A musician and friend to many, he passed away far too young. Born in Seattle on February4th, 1953, he graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1971, already an accomplished electric bass guitar player. He played in many bands over the years, most famously with Scargill, the touring backup band for Doug Kershaw, the Ragin' Cajun fiddler. A serious record collector, he could never pass up a garage sale offering those strange round objects with a hole in the middle. Always willing to help out his friends, he was the most honest of people. He loved the social aspect of listening to music or jamming, and liked to sit in with Seattle-area bands whenever he could. He was also an avid sports fan, madly cheering on his favorite teams. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ardath L. "Toddie" and father, Delmer G. "Tubby" Smith. He is survived by his sister, Deanne (Dee) Smith of Seattle, an aunt, Vi Ellis, of Spokane, and numerous cousins, most notably Holly Getman of Naches, WA, who was there for him in his last years.A memorial service will be held at a later date. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Mary Margaret (Meg) Currier REID Meg passed away on January 4th after a brief illness, surrounded by her family. She was born in Tacoma, WA on October 18, 1955 to Jim and Mary Ann Currier. She graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Romance Linguistics. She was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority and served as chapter president. Meg was the personification of grace, love, and compassionâ€"she never met anyone she could not befriend. Meg had the gift of being able to remember something about people she met and share it with them the next time she saw them. She chose to make her family and her community her life's work. She gave quietly of her time and talents with unceasing generosity and humility to many organizations, most notably the Northshore School District. Meg could light up a room with her big brown eyes and beautiful spirit. She had a quick wit and a wicked sense of humorâ€"she was hilarious. She had her own way of telling a story, and her version was always more entertaining than what had really happened. Of her many wonderful quirks, she had a unique palate, and was known for her four basic food groups: nonfat lattes, milk chocolate, crunchy peanut butter, and Cheerios. Meg loved sports and was a devoted fan of the Huskies, Mariners, Seahawks and Sounders; no matter what the record was, she never abandoned her teams. Meg was an amazing wife, mother, sister, and friend. She is survived by Tom, her devoted husband of 28 years, and her children: Andrew, and his fiancée Melanie Bishop, Margaret 'Maggie', Peter 'Bubs', Jane Elizabeth 'Janie', and Señor (Buddy), her constant and faithful four-legged companion. Meg will also be greatly missed by her sisters Betsy Wheeler (Doug), Jane Lamb (Peter), and her brother Jim Currier (Melanie), as well as her nieces, nephews and extended family. We are all better people for having had the gift of her presence in our lives. Meg was always the life of the party, but she has left this party far too early, and we will all miss her. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to NW Chapter of National MS Society (Meg's Fun Raisers 2011 Walk MS); Hopelink or The Puget Sound Blood Center. A Celebration of Life for Meg will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 10:18 a.m., at the Lake Forest Park Presbyterian Church 17440 Brookside Blvd NE, Lake Forest Park, WA 98155.

Jill Lorene Brossard at the age of 53 dies of breast cancer

Jill Lorene BROSSARD Jill Lorene Brossard, born December 13th 1956 in Seattle Washington, passed away on December 11th at the age of 53. She died unexpectedly, surrounded by family, after a reoccurrence of breast cancer. Jill graduated from Roosevelt High School in Seattle and Green River CC in Auburn, where she received her degree in occupational therapy. Jill realized her passion for working with special needs children and was a dedicated advocate. Yet, once she had children of her own she left to focus on raising a family. She can be identified by any Mill Creek resident, as she was an avid walker-coffee cup and dog leashes in hand! Jill was a beautiful soul, always ready with her genuine and warm smile. She left a loving legacy to both her immediate and extended family. She is survived by her husband Jim, her daughters Carlee, Kimberly (T.J.), Laura, her son Daniel, her parents Jerrolee and Carl Ostrom, her sisters Carolee Morrison (John), Nancy Broderson and brother Tom Ostrom (Marilyn). Service to be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6215 196th St. SW, Lynnwood WA 98036 December 17th at 2:00 p.m. Remembrances can be made to www.trinitylutheran church.com or www.komen.org.
